Reuben is a 57-year-old man from Uganda. He and his wife have four children together. While Reuben works as a teacher of brick laying at a vocational school and as a subsistence farmer, his wife works as a minister in their local church. In his free time, Reuben enjoys watching the news on the television, listening to gospel music on the radio, and watching soccer games in his village.
Reuben has been suffering from a multinodular goiter for thirteen years. He was able to live with the condition for a long time, but recently it has gotten much worse and is causing internal pressure. The pain and discomfort have made it difficult for Reuben to swallow and sleep.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $279 to fund a thyroidectomy for Reuben. The procedure is scheduled to take place on July 3 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Reuben to live more comfortably.
“I appreciate the donors for supporting my surgery,” says Reuben. “The help they are offering to the needy who cannot afford treatment is a great blessing.”
