Moses is a nine-year-old boy from Kenya. He lives with his family in a two-room rental house. His father is a casual laborer, and his mother is a stay-at-home mom. Moses has hydrocephalus, which is a condition that causes excess fluid in the head.
Earlier this year, Moses began complaining of persistent headaches. He was treated for meningitis, but that did not lessen the headaches he was suffering. Moses also experiences other symptoms including stiffness of the neck, and cannot visually follow objects. He has not been able to go to school since he feel ill.
A scan revealed that Moses has excess fluid in his head, and therefore needed an urgent shunt procedure. Having exhausted their savings, Moses’ parents are not able to afford the care he needs. If left untreated, Moses is exposed to many risks that could result in many complications.
For $685, Moses will undergo the shunt procedure he needs to be healthy.
“I am glad to have found a place where Moses can be treated. It pains to have known him to be well and now this. We will keep trying until we see our son in the healthy good state he was in before,” shared Moses’ mother.
