Isiah is a friendly boy and the fourth born in his family. All of his siblings are in school, but he has not yet started. His mother separated from her husband one year ago, and she works very hard to take care of her children. Her small-scale farming at home is insufficient to cover the cost of her son’s surgery. They live with their grandparents in a semi-permanent house with two rooms, and by the nature of their house, it doesn’t accommodate them well, but they are making due as best they can during this challenging time.
Since two years ago, Isiah has had a right inguinal hernia. This condition has lowered his mood and sometimes he doesn’t eat anything due to the pain. If he is not treated, Isiah risks strangulation of his hernia, threatening an emergency. Fortunately, on March 29th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Isiah’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Isiah’s mother says, “Sometimes I think maybe it’s a curse because I have had family violence and following it, my son gets worse with this condition. I am hopeful that once you support my son’s surgery, I will live to remember and be thankful.”
