Yong is a fourth grade student from Cambodia. His favorite subjects in school are math and science, and he hopes to become a teacher when he gets older.
When he was 20 days old, Yong had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Yong experiences ear discharge, pain, itchiness, tinnitus, and hearing loss. He has a recurrent infection and cannot communicate clearly with others due to the hearing loss.
Yong traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On May 10, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
