Socheat is a 49-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He is one of nine children, having four sisters and four brothers. When not farming, Socheat likes to watch TV, listen to news on the radio, and visit the rice fields.
In June 2014, Socheat was involved in a chainsaw accident and fractured two bones in his left forearm. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors performed an external fixation to stabilize his bones. However, the hardware was removed six months later, before the fracture properly healed, making it difficult for Socheat to use his left arm.
On May 17, Socheat will undergo an ORIF procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is asking for $411 to cover the cost of Socheat’s treatment.
Socheat is looking forward to recovering!

Socheat underwent fracture repair surgery.
Socheat’s treatment for his left arm went well. Following the procedure, he was instructed to keep his arm elevated. He is scheduled to return two weeks after his surgery to remove his stitches and to have a below elbow cast applied to be used for four weeks. He is then scheduled to return four weeks after his surgery to remove the cast and begin physiotherapy. He is advised to refrain from any heavy lifting for three months. Socheat’s wounds have healed nicely and he feels more comfortable than before.
Socheat says, “I just want to say thanks to all of the staff at CSC and the donors for helping me.”
