Vuoch is a 70-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has five grandchildren, and in his free time he likes to read and listen to the monks pray on the radio. Five months ago, Vuoch developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him cloudy and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Vuoch learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 10, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure. He says, "I hope that I will be able to see clearly so I can go anywhere outside on my own and can return to the pagoda."

Seav Gech is a 37-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two children and enjoys cooking and doing housework in her free time. When she was fifteen years old, Seav Gech had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her right ear to perforate. For this reason, Seav Gech experiences discharge, itchiness, tinnitus, and hearing loss. She has a difficult time understanding people and is unable to communicate well with others. Seav Gech traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On May 2, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I hope that after my surgery, my ear will heal and I will be able to hear again."
