Meta is a nine-year-old elementary school student from Cambodia. He lives with his three brothers and his parents, who are both construction workers. Meta's favorite thing to do at school is read books. He also loves to explore the forested area around their house with his brothers.
Since he was five years old, Meta has had tonsillitis, resulting in recurrent infections and chronic throat pain. This has made it difficult for him to swallow, breathe and speak and can interfere with his ability to sleep soundly as well.
His family has come to Children's Surgical Centre, where doctors will be able to remove his inflamed tonsils on January 6th. Once he has recovered from this procedure, he will be able to breathe, sleep, and eat with ease, and will no longer experience chronic infections in his throat.
Meta's mother shared, "I am excited to see my son get well after the surgery, and I hope he will have an easy time eating his food and sleeping all night."
