Rafael is an infant from Kenya. He is the youngest of four children. They live in a one-room rental house in the Nyanza region of Kenya.
Rafael has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of his condition, Rafael has been experiencing an increasing head circumference and irritability. Without treatment, Rafael will experience severe physical and developmental delays.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $685 to cover the cost of surgery for Rafael that will treat his hydrocephalus. The procedure is scheduled to take place on November 7 and will drain the excess fluid from Rafael's brain. This will reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve his quality of life. With proper treatment, Rafael will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young boy.
“I hope you can accept our appeal for help for our son’s surgical care because no matter how much we strive, we cannot raise that amount of money,” shares Rafael’s mother.
