Mot is a 73-year-old widow who has one living daughter. Both her son and her husband passed away during the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Now, Mot lives with her daughter who is a farmer. She likes to go to the pagoda to help however she can and listen to the monks pray when she has free time.
Four years ago, Mot developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside on her own.
When Mot learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On November 25th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and will place an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Mot says, "I hope after surgery I can see clearly. Then I can take care of my grandchildren, do more housework, and go to the pagoda by myself."
