Sovannaudom is a second grade student who enjoys reading books, playing soccer, and watching television. His favorite subject in school is Khmer literature, and he hopes to become a police officer when he gets older. Sovannaudom was born with a condition known as torticollis, in which the neck is twisted to one side due to an abnormal or asymmetrical neck position. He is unable to turn his neck or move his head properly, and this often distracts his from his studies and other activities. Surgery will lengthen and preposition the muscles in Sovannaudom's neck, and allow him to move without any difficulty.
"I hope that my son's operation will go well and he will be able to move his neck normally and I will no longer have to worry about his condition," said Sovannaudom's mother.
