Man is a 70-year-old fisherman from Cambodia. He has two daughters, four sons, and fifteen grandchildren. Now he lives with his daughter and her family. She has started fishing too, and Man enjoys teaching her and his grandchildren about fishing. In his free time he goes to the mosque to pray.
Seven years ago, Man developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Man learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours by taxi seeking treatment. On August 6th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovering, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Man shared, "I hope that after my eye surgery I can go outside by myself and go anywhere I need to go without asking my family to help me. I also hope I can fish again sometimes."
