Phoeun is a 70-year-old rice farmer who is married, and has three sons, four daughters and six grandchildren. Both Phoeun and his wife work in rice fields in Prey Veng province. He is a traditional musician and has played at many weddings in his province. He also enjoys watching Cambodian news and growing fruits near his home.
About one year ago, Phoeun developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. When Phoeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment.
On February 1st, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Phoeun is seeking help to fund this $253 procedure.
Phoeun shared, "I hope after surgery my eye can see better so I can go back to plant rice well, and I want to go to play more music again."
