Khoeun is a 73-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives with her daughter and grandchild. Her husband passed away 30 years ago. Khoeun enjoys visiting the pagoda to listen to the monks pray.
Five years ago, Khoeun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, mild pain, cloudy lens, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Khoeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours by taxi with her daughter seeking treatment. On October 13th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification and place an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Khoeun shared, “I hope after surgery I can see everything clearly so I can help my daughter do housework, take care of my grandchild, and easily visit the pagoda and other places outside on my own.”
