“Mu Ki is looking forward to getting well very soon, so that she can be a supportive wife and caring mother for her three children again,” says our medical partner, Burma Border Projects.
Mu Ki is a 37-year-old woman from Thailand who plants rice and corn for a living. She was diagnosed with multiple gallstones, meaning that small stones, made of cholesterol, formed in her gallbladder. She has been experiencing severe stomach pain, and is unable to help her husband on the farm or do household chores most of the time. For a short time, she was taking analgesics to help relieve her symptoms; however, she still experiences pain.
Mu Ki and her husband make 20,000 Baht (USD $650) a year. This amount is not enough for them to pay for proper medical treatment, especially when their children are still in school.
For $810, we can help ensure that Mu Ki no longer experiences pain and can go back to work. “I’m very lucky and fortunate to be able to get help for my surgery. I can’t wait to have treatment and go home to be a happy mother again,” Mu Ki tells us. Let’s help make that possible!
