Godwin is a teenage boy from Kenya. Godwin’s mother noted a swell around his groin area and was concerned with her son’s condition. She took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a right hydrocele. If not treated, he is at risk of developing an inguinal hernia.
Godwin is the oldest of four children with a single mom who works in Nairobi, Kenya as a hair stylist. She also works as a casual laborer in neighboring farms to support and help raise Godwin and his siblings. Efforts to raise funds needed for surgery have not been fruitful. Recently she got to know of the services offered at BethanyKids through social media and decided to try her luck with his treatment. They have no other source of income yet Godwin’s father is not part of their lives.
Godwin is in class six and hopes to be a teacher in future. His mother wishes he could be operated on, but she is unable to pay for it. Fortunately, on November 5th, he will undergo repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $423 to fund Godwin’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably.
“I hope to be a teacher in future,” says Godwin.
