Ponleu is the youngest in a his family with three siblings. His parents are both farmers. Ponleu’s mother brought him to the hospital to help treat his swollen nose and nasal obstruction. Ponleu is having difficulty breathing for the past two weeks. They’ve tried treatments at home, but he did not get better.
His family is requesting $241 to support Ponleu’s surgery at Watsi’s Medical Partner Children’s Surgical Centre. After surgery, Ponleu will be able to breathe easily again. His parents are hopeful that he will be all better soon.

Ponleu underwent surgery to help him breath more easily.
After a successful surgery, Ponleu was given antibiotics to lessen the chance of infection and pain medication to decrease his soreness. Doctors have asked that he relax at home for a couple of weeks, and not do any strenuous activity, but after this they expect a full recovery. His family shared that he is able to breathe easily now and can sleep much better at night. They are thankful to the hospital staff for the success of his operation. Ponleu is grateful he can return to his village, and return to school full time. He would like to be a policeman when he grows up!
Ponleu’s mother said: “I’m so happy because he can go to school, I no longer have to take time to treat his disease like before, especially now we can save money for our family.”
