Bunna is a 6-year-old first-grader from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and younger brother. Her mom works in a garment factory and her dad recently got a job at a nearby construction site. Bunna loves math and science, and hopes to be a nurse and help people in her village when she grows up.
For the last two years, Bunna has been experiencing difficulty swallowing and breathing, accompanied by recurring episodes of pharyngitis. Additionally, she has noticed a decrease in appetite, resulting in weight loss and fatigue. Frequent illness causes her to miss school. Bunna was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Bunna, which is scheduled to take place on March 11th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Bunna of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably.
Bunna’s mother shared, “I hope that my daughter can feel healthy and not miss so many school days.”
