Than is a 70-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has seven children, ten grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in her free time.
Five months ago, Than developed a cataract in each eye, causing her vision loss. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Than learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On May 6, doctors will perform extra-capsular cataract extraction and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I hope that my surgery is successful so I can attend ceremonies at the pagoda and be able to recognize my relatives’ faces.”
