Say hello to Jenifer, a two year old girl from Guatemala! Jenifer is developmentally delayed, an effect of a difficult birth during which she got stuck in the birth canal. She cannot walk and can barely support her own weight when held up.
For $625 we can provide Jenifer with treatment that can greatly impact her physical strength. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, explains to us, “we’ll perform a diagnostic workup to rule out any treatable medical conditions like thyroid disease. Then, assuming that those studies are negative, we’ll enroll Jenifer in intensive physical therapy. This will allow her muscles to gain strength and to help her improve her coordination. The goal of this is to help her walk independently and position her to have as normal a childhood as possible.”
Let’s chip in to help Jenifer grow stronger!

Jenifer received a diagnostic to determine the cause of her delayed development, as well as physical therapy to improve her strength.
Her doctors have established that her developmental delay is simply due to birth difficulties rather than another serious medical condition. This is good because it means they know which tools to use to support her rehabilitation.
“Jenifer is doing just amazing already. Her coordination and strength have greatly improved,” write her doctors. “She’ll need several more months of this work, but is making great progress!”
Jenifer’s mom says, “I am super excited to see how well my child is doing. I am very thankful for the thoughtful care and support I have received as a result of the help of Watsi donors.”
