Samit is a 55-year-old laborer from Cambodia. He has one daughter, three sons, and three grandchildren. Samit lives with his wife and daughter, who is a garment worker. He likes to listen to the news on the radio in his free time.
Two years ago, Samit developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him photophobia, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things, recognizing neighbors, and going places on his own.
When Samit learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled there with his son seeking treatment. On December 17th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Samit shared, “I hope I can get well soon so I can go to my work easily and also look after my grandchild and myself.”
