When Sherlita falls asleep, she experiences difficulty breathing and has to sit up until the shortness of breath subsides. Sherlita is 48 years old and lives with her husband and three children in the Philippines. She tells our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), “I am looking forward to be focused on caring for my family without any difficulty.”
Sherlita has menorrhagia, a condition that causes excessive menstrual bleeding and stiffening of her abdomen. This condition also causes difficulty breathing, limited mobility, fatigue, and lightheadedness. Without a hysterectomy, Sherlita’s condition will persist and could worsen; limiting her mobility and comfort further.
Before her menorrhagia began impeding her daily life, Sherlita was very active and mobile. “Sherlita used to do more than just housework before her condition worsened. They used to go on family outings and participate in church activities,” ICM continues. “Now she has minimal involvement with any activities and she is excited to go back to their church activities and bible studies.”
For $668 Sherlita can have her uterus removed to rid her of heavy bleeding, abdominal discomfort, and numerous other complications.
“Now, I have found hope in seeing my children have their own children and I could see them enjoy life and share my own experience and assistance,” Sherlita says. “I am looking forward to being focused on caring for my family without any difficulty.”

Sherlita received a successful hysterectomy.
Sherlita looks forward to going back to their hometown to be with her children after the successful procedure to remove her uterus. Our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), shares that Sherlita especially looks forward to being with her family again. “She looks forward to effectively taking care of her children and starting a small garden for their consumption, and eventually selling some of their extra crops.”
After full recovery, ICM continues, “she wants to do things she didn’t manage to do before because she was consumed by her condition. She is now jolly and never been better.”
Sherlita shares her appreciation for all of the support she received to improve her health. “I am truly thankful for those who helped me in my journey towards healing. I didn’t expect that I will reach this point in my life but I am very overwhelmed and happy for I have been given another chance.”
She continues sharing her refreshed optimism now that she is healthy. “I am excited to spend time with my family and be a mother again that cares for my children and provide for their needs. No words can truly describe my joy now and I thank you for being a part of my journey,” Sherlita continues. “You have given me hope and a positive outlook. I am excited to help my husband earn a living for the family.”
