Dinah is a peasant farmer from Uganda. Dinah is scheduled for a total abdominal hysterectomy in our facility following a diagnosis of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Before the diagnosis was made, Dinah complained of lower abdominal pain and backache which had been persistent for about eighteen months. She had not visited any hospital due to lack of medical fees. She came to our facility and after diagnosis, she was afraid the money was not available for her treatment. If not treated, Dinah will continue having persistent pain and the chance of the condition becoming cancerous and metastasizing will be high.Dinah lost her husband last year, leaving her behind with five children. The children are grown-ups but without sufficient income, they are not able to provide for her treatment. Dinah does subsistence farming to make ends meet. She is not able to raise the amount required and appeals for help.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Dinah’s surgery. On October 10, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Dinah will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Dinah says, “I hope to get better quality of life after surgery so that I resume my work on the farm.”
