Pov is a 74-year-old grandmother. She has two sons, three daughters, and eight grandchildren. Pov lives with her son who works as a delivery driver. She enjoys playing with her grandchildren and listening to monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, Pov developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking. For this reason, she is not able to go places on her own.
When Pov learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled there seeking treatment. On September 14th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure.
Pov says, “I hope after surgery my vision improves so I can get around easily on my own.”

Pov underwent cataract surgery so she can see clearly again and remain independent.
It was difficult for Pov to spend her days inside the house due to light sensitivity from her cataract, and she could not do what she normally liked to do. Her vision has already improved, and she is able to recognize the faces of her family and venture outside in the sun. Her life will improve because she will be able to do the things she enjoys again, like walking her grandchildren to school and cooking for the family.
Pov shared: “I feel useful to my family again now that I can see better. I did not want to be a burden to my children, but there was very little I could do to help at home. Thank you to the staff and the supporters who donate to CSC to help Cambodians like me to stay independent and care for ourselves.”
