Kamugisha is a small scale farmer from Uganda. She is a mother to eight children, three are married, 5 boys and all causal laborers, both kamugisha and the husband are small scale farmers but using poor agricultural methods hence lesser production.
30 years ago, Kamugisha began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty breathing and discomfort. She was diagnosed with a goiter, an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Kamugisha receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on September 10 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
“I can dream of getting relieved of this condition and continue with cultivation after surgery.”
