Van is a 70-year-old mother of seven from Cambodia. She has thirteen grandchildren, and in her free time she enjoys listening to the news and the monks pray on the radio.
One year ago, Van developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry and cloudy vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Van learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 16, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
Van’s son-in-law says, “I hope that my mother-in-law will be able to see clearly after her surgery and can recognize people’s faces and go outside on her own.”
