Sarith is a Khmer cake seller from Cambodia. She has four sons and one daughter, and enjoys going to the pagoda in her free time.
Two years ago, Sarith developed a cataract in each eye, causing her irritation, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sarith learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On June 5, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
Her son says, “I hope that my mother will be able to see clearly and that she can go back to taking care of herself.”
