Son is a 58-year-old mother of seven from Cambodia. She has five sons, two daughters, and eight grandchildren, and enjoys watching the news and Khmer dramas on television in her free time.
Two years ago, Son developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her vision loss. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Son learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for six and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 15, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope that after my surgery I will be able to see clearly so I can help my family plant rice on the farm.”
