Anna is a mother of seven children. Most of her children are in primary school. She lives in central Kenya, where farming is the main economic activity. Her husband, who is the breadwinner of the family, recently lost his right hand in a road accident. Since then, the family has had difficulty meeting their daily needs.
In 2015, Anna slipped and fell. She dislocated her ankle and has been walking with difficulty. The past two years have involved several unsuccessful attempts to get treatment. She has been to many hospitals and has relied primarily on painkillers.
Finally, a friend referred Anna to our medical partner’s care center. On February 1, she will undergo an ankle fusion procedure to treat her injury. Now, she needs help raising $793 to pay for the treatment.
Anna says, “I want to be there for my family, which desperately needs me. I hope that soon I will be able to ambulate with ease.”
