Nim is a 67-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is married with three sons, two daughters, and eleven grandchildren. She enjoys going to the pagoda to listen to the monks pray and join ceremonies.
Two years ago, Nim developed cataracts in both eyes, causing her blurred vision. It is difficult for her to see things clearly, recognize faces, do any type of work, or go anywhere.
On May 1, surgeons will perform small incision cataract surgery and insert an intraocular lens in each eye. After the procedure, Nim will be able to see clearly again. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, requests $292 to cover Nim’s medical care.

Nim underwent cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her left eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her right eye.
Nim says, “I am very happy that I can see clearly again. I can recognize the faces of everyone, easily go to the pagoda to join ceremonies, and go anywhere else by myself.”
