Manfa is the only child in his family. His parents are rice and potato farmers in rural Mondolkiri Province in Cambodia. He loves to eat fried potatoes using the potatoes they grow on the farm and enjoys watching cartoons on his mom's phone. Manfa was diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta, a congenital condition in which bones are brittle and prone to breaking. He has experienced multiple fractures in his lower limbs since he was six years old. On March 4th, Manfa will undergo osteotomy, a procedure where his tibia bone will be reshaped to facilitate improved walking balance and prevent pain for him in the future. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, needs your support to fund the $469 procedure, post-op medications, and physiotherapy costs. Manfa's father shared: "In the future, I'm worried my son will not be able to attend school. I hope he can walk better than before and continue his dream to work as a teacher."

Rehema is a 33-year-old farmer and mother from Uganda. She has two sons and a daughter. She comes from a family of six siblings. Two of her siblings and her father have passed away. Rehema practices small-scale farming with her husband, and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Rehema carried six previous pregnancies. One of her children died after birth due to birth asphyxia, and she also experienced two miscarriages. Rehema is expecting a new baby. Due to medical concerns, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section to ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Rehema undergo a C-Section on February 13th. This procedure will cost $234, and Rehema is requesting support. Rehema said, ‘I hope to get back to my fields after delivery.”

Samnang is a two-year-old boy from Cambodia. He lives in Phnom Penh with his parents and his 3-year-old brother. His mother stays home to care for the children and his father is in the army. At home, Samnang likes to play with his toys and enjoys eating fried chicken prepared by his mother. At birth, Samnang was diagnosed with arthrogryposis, a term used to describe a variety of conditions involving multiple joint and muscle contractures or stiffness. As a result of this condition, Samnang has clubfoot on both feet. Clubfoot is a condition where the foot is rotated. This causes pain and difficulty walking. Samnang traveled for one and a half hours to visit our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). There, surgeons will perform a bilateral tendon release and insert a K-wire on March 1st. CSC is requesting $444 to fund Samnang's clubfoot repair. After treatment and therapy, he will be able to walk and be more active. Samnang's mother said, "I hope after surgery, my son will learn to walk, have no pain, and keep up with his older brother."
