Heng enjoys listening to the radio in his free time and taking care of his five children and grandchild. Thirty years ago, Heng stepped on an active land mine, which resulted in the later amputation of his lower left leg. Heng has since undergone several procedures to treat the injuries caused by the land mine, but Heng still suffers from discomfort and his prosthetic limb is too heavy for him to walk with. He now uses two crutches to get around, but often has pain near the amputation site. Further amputation treatment Heng’s injuries will allow Heng’s leg to heal properly and prepare his leg for future refitting of a prosthetic limb. He will be able to walk comfortably and return to his work on the rice farm.

Heng underwent surgery to fit a prosthetic limb.
Heng’s surgery went well and he’s been working with the physiotherapy team to improve the mobility and function in his leg. Surgery will allow Heng to walk on his own again with the fitting of a prosthetic leg, and greatly improve his quality of life. He looks forward to going home and spending time with his family.
Heng said, “I am so happy that I now have the chance to get properly fitted for a prosthetic leg and walk again.”
