Nwe Nwe is a 42-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her husband and youngest son. She has two other children who study in Burma, and currently live with Nwe Nwe’s mother.
Nwe Nwe underwent biliary obstruction repair on June 29. The day after her surgery, she had severe stomach pain. Gradually, the pain has worsened since then.
Doctors want Nwe Nwe to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose her condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Nwe Nwe’s CT scan and care, scheduled for July 4.
Nwe Nwe’s husband says, “I am worried for my wife and sad to see she is in a lot of pain.”

Nwe Nwe underwent a CT scan.
The results showed that fluid from her raptured bile duct had seeped into her liver. At first, the doctor inserted a catheter into her bile duct to drain the fluid, but after three days, the fluid was still not drained. The doctor then explained that the right side of her liver was damaged and that they would need to cut out that section of her liver. The doctor performed a successful surgery to repair her damaged liver.
Nwe said, “I will never able to pay for my surgery without donors. Thank you very much for saving my life.”
